Hey to a fellow Texan. I am not a born here Texan but I did get here as fast as I could.
Maybe you could answer a couple ? about down****ding. I have read alot of the forums, so it's not like I didn't try.
I was using the free Limewire and could down****d movies. This was a little slow with waiting for sources. The promise of more sources and faster down****ds got me to purchase Limewire 4. something. At first the speed of down and uploads was great, but then my downloads came to a solw crawl. I cleaned out my incomplete files, only downloaded files that had 10 to 20 in the #, slowed the broadband to share 60/40. Down****ds 60(I paid for it), uploads 40. Now it takes days to get a movie. What have I done wrong?
I have the new Windows Vista.DSL and I don't what all else you need to know.
If you could help me with this, you would be my new superhero.

Hey Prfds, If you have the wall infront of the globe then you are firewalled. Are you getting a full connection?? Lower left corner, how many bars are showing??
Need to make sure that you give limewire full access through Norton.
Can also take a look at the version of Java. Somefolks are having trouble with 1.6.1, but I'm not sure with Vista.
Anyway you have to rid your self of the firewall 1st and then we can go from there.
Please answer back about the connection bars.

Hey,
There are 5 bars, it said Turbo Charged Connection. The firewall is turned off because I don't know how to use it. I don't understand about the Norton thing.

When I post, I don't know how to see the replies, my email notifies me that there has been a reply. Is this the right forum to be using? Do you have the patience to help me?
Yes, you have kids there fore you have PATIENCE. Just think of me as a slow to adapt kid.
People are uploading from me like crazy, doesn't that say that my firewall and everything is ok?

It sounds like everything is open and working properly if you have a full connection and hosts are uploading from you. I would just keep tweeking the settings until things get to where you want them.

You might stop sharing for a short time to see if that makes a difference.
Try putting your share slots to 5 and only allow 3 upload limit per host.

Is the cross-platform where I should be posting to you? I have gone there and read a lot of threads. It's where I learned to download from # 10-20 people, keep my uncompleted folder clear, retry down****ds, etc. I have been trying to solve this problem for a while. But you where the only one to tell me welcome to the Gnutella Forums, so tag your it.
One thing you forgot to tell me is how I can see your reply on the forum instead of using the link in my email.

Yea, this is the welcome forum so you will get a lot more visibility over there. I also use my email to promt me. If you don't use your email then you just have to sit there and wait till someone responds. I dont want to camp out here. LOL.
