Hi everybody, I'm Saxplayer737, I need your help.
Today I started to have problems with LimeWire, all of the sudden I could not open it, neither from the shortcut or from the program files. The following message is displayed every time I tried to open it: "Windows cannot accesss the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropiate permissions to access the item" This happens several times, so I uninstalled the LimeWire, and downloaded the Basic version from the official site and installed. After that I was able to open it only once, then no luck and still have the same problem and the same message. I have a Windows Vista Home Premium OS. I scanned the computer with Iolo antivirus and no virus found, also scanned it with Windows Defender and Ad-aware and no malicious items were found.

You need to set the installer to run as Administrator. Then right-click the shortcut & choose to run as Admin after installing.
This is a must on Vista. ![]() If still problems check points #3 & 5 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link). Re: Vista location of preferences, you will be redirected to another page. |
