Default Gnutella Network and Viruses

Hi Darrenvox

You know, I did not know there was a "London" in Canada, you learn something new every day in this forum.

Anyway, you have unfortunately learned a bitter lesson here and that is you do not download programs or compressed files from the gnutella network, simply because there is a good (extremely high) chance it will contain a virus (or some other malware).

Also, all newbies that ask are advised to keep their AV (and other protective apps) up to date and scan every file that they download.

Even then, when dealing with the gnutella network, there is no protection that will protect you better than your own common sense.

Sorry you're going to have to do a "reformat and re-installation" to get your PC back but at least you now know how dangerous the network can be.

UK Bob
