Default HEY, I'm Fat! - Lack of search results on Mac using LW Pro

Hey guys and gals.

I've been using Limewire for a really long time and thought I was pretty much a pro. But I'm having some trouble now.

I had LW installed on my MacBook Pro, which got stolen, and everything was working wonderfully. No probs. When I got a new laptop and downloaded it once again, everything looks all shiny and new.....looks great, but I'm having some trouble. When I search for content, all I get is a bunch of trash cans or file types I'm not interested in. If I search out "W*lle N*lson", I get only a handful of songs, if I search for exercise videos or adult content, I don't really get much of anything, just trashcans. Just a few short months ago, if searched for any of those items, I would've had dozens of downloads going all at once.
What happened???

Thanks for any advice!

It would help to know which LW version you are using.

Can depend on peers you are connected to sometimes. Are you using the Find More Results option? Varying your search criteria can also help greatly. Sometimes if you search the same term continuously, some peers see you as some form of spam & may stop responding to your search requests.

Check those search results with the trash-can. Some or many may not be junk after all. Personally I prefer using the Classic View of search results with LW 5. In this way after enabling the Bitrate column for music I can see if the results in fact have a bitrate & whether they look dodgy compared to their file size & supposed length/duration. How to switch to Classic View

I'm using v. 5.4.6.

Thanks for the tip on the bit rate, I agree with that.

Another thing that keeps happening....sometimes when I go to down load something that looks legit, it stops and gives me the "File Deleted- Dangerous File" error. So out of all the items I've tried to search for tonight, pretty much all I've gotten is 2 Wil-e c-y-*-t-e songs a porn ad.
Ha. I guess I'll keep trying.

Thanks.

PS- Oh, I didn't see the Find More Results option, but I'm just now diggin' in to this new interface, so I'm sure I'll come across it.

Wait some minutes after a search has finished. Then right-click the search tab & you will see option for Find More Results.

Not totally up to date but this does have some clues about visually ignoring some kinds of spam Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)
