Must be cold up your way. I guess you can't wait for spring-summer. The end of our summer weather down here but still some nice warm days.
Unix as in Mac OSX or Linux variations, or Unix in general?

As a matter of fact, the Finnish weather is far from what it used to be 'in the good old days'; for example, currently we have very little snow here in Helsinki, temperature is 2 degrees Celcius (35.6 F), so it's very moderate. One has to travel well over 800 km (497 mi) in order to see some frost - almost to the other end of Finland :-)

Nevertheless, we are certainly waiting for the summer. I can hardly wait for the 'weather prophets' to come out with their expectations regarding the summer, but I expect this year it's going to be very warm.

What comes to Unixen, I simply do Unix. Was it Linux (I run a mix of Ubuntu and Xfce in my laptop), OS X or some other commercial version. I started with operating systems around 1984 (CP/M - I wonder how many users of this forum even knows this one?) and carried on with Xenix in 1987, so I have seen quite a bunch of different derivates and versions :-) Ubuntu is definitely my favourite, I have been using it since version 7.10.

Yes CP/M was an earlier or pre-DOS AFAIK used I think mostly on mainframes. You can correct me there of course lol I am aware of Xenix, I think a variation of Unix I think designed for mini computers, some commands were different.

Well 2 C would be freezing for us. Goes to show what people get used to in their local climate. Not sure you'd cope well with 40-45 C like our summers tend to have on the hottest days.

Well, close but no cigar :-) CP/M was designed by Digital for microcomputers using either Intel 8080 or later compatible Zilog Z80 CPU. Just wonder - you could write a book using a system consisting of two 51/4" floppy disks (one for the software, the other for the text) and 64KB of memory... OK, no WYSIWYG there (well, with text terminal...?), but still. I reckon nowadays the laptops sold with Vista don't have less than 2GB!

Hmm, and from Vista we reach two Microsoft's ... 'interesting' decisions. Namely, both Xenix and OS/2 were developed by MS (OS/2 in co-operation with IBM), but MS decided to give up with both. I don't know the reasoning with Xenix case, OS/2 dilemma was caused by Windows 3.0 (yiks!).

40-45 C is a bit too warm for me, at least for a longer period of time (though, in sauna I prefer >100 C - but I don't stay in there for weeks ). There are lot of Finns enjoying of this kind of warmth, so places like Spain, Greece islands, Turkey or nowadays Thailand are extremely popular for taking holidays. I prefer a bit cooler places .

I spent time in Thailand for a holiday a couple of months ago. It was hotter here when I returned lol
