![]() Hi, I'm new to the forums. I never knew this existed, but I missed my limewire, so I was googling how I could get it back up and running, when I came across this site. I hope it can help me figure out how to get it running again. I've been using peer to peer since napster first came about in the mid-1990s! Thanks, koffee |

![]() Have you tried http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...e-edition.html I'd recommend uninstalling any previous version of LW. Deleting the LW preferences folder but keeping the Downloads.dat file, as explained here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post344686 |

![]() Lord of the Rings...please Like koffeebrown I am new here Using OS 10.4.6 Snow Leopard with Limewire Pirate Edtion 6.5.2. My question is probably so basic that I should be ashamed to ask it. Nevertheless...I've searched the FAQs without luck. When I download video clips on Limewire they come as mp,. mpeg, avi. qt and mov. My QT 7 player deals with the first three but cannot handle the last two. Is it simply that QT 7 cannot handle them? Sorry to be such a nuisance but at 73 I'm still trying to learn! More in hope than expectation of an answer. Rollo Browne |

![]() Hi RB I'm not LOTR but I guess I can help nonetheless, try this URL: VideoLAN - Official download of VLC media player for Mac OS X The VLC media player can play almost anything but the most corrupted or fake files. Hope this helps UK Bob |

![]() I suspect you will find both .qt & .mov files are spam. Most often porn spam. Personally I added both .mov & .qt to the Keyword filter list in LW's preferences. However to answer your question, if VLC cannot play those files then they are just bad files. I started to answer this question but was called away for an hour. No need for me to post the link again lol. ![]() I would also highly recommend this http://perian.org/ for quicktime. It adds a lot of support for QT Player such as DivX, 3ivx, Flash, AVI, MKV, Windows Media Audio v1 & v2, DTS, AAC, AC3 Audio, subtitles, etc. VLC is also a very good to check the validity of audio files with. So if a song won't play with iTunes then try it with VLC. If VLC cannot open it then it's a dud file. One thing VLC does which protects you, is some video files are laced with http weblinks that take you to some dangerous website. VLC will not open those links, whereas QT Player will attempt to! On my mac, I have some kinds of files I set to open with VLC by default, some with QT. I manually change them for specific files sometimes. |

![]() Lord of the Rings & Bob UK Thank you both for taking the trouble to answer me. I have VLC but I think the Lord is correct that these are spam or porn. I will follow the advice and filter them out on LW. Thank you again. Rollo Browne |
