As zab mentioned, you can use that zip file to begin using LimeWire immediately. To help us fix the Windows problem for the future, though, at which point did the installer freeze? Does it always freeze if you rerun it multiple times? |
Ok, I just tried the link that zab posted and it worked...However, I tried that 4.3.3 and that did NOT work, it froze again...And my Java runtime is installed with the latest version and working fine...I have XP Home and NEVER had this issue with Limewire before, so why does it have to be an issue with OUR machines? |
Also, with that link that zab posted, what version of LW is that? |
Me again.....LOL....LW is not showing in my add/remove, what now?? |
The alternative installer does not show up in add/remove. If you want to uninstall LimeWire you can just delete the folder you unzipped it in. That installer will always be the same version as the original installer - we provide it as backup. |
IROQ -- It would be very helpful if you could tell us where the installer froze instead of just the fact that it froze. What was it showing, exactly, when it stopped working? Did it freeze your entire computer, or were you able to exit it? |
sberlin, it froze at the same point each and every time "unpack200.exe" |
WTF, its showin my file version as 1.0.0.2????....This is friggin rediculous...I shouldn't have ta go downloadin or reconfiguring all kinda crap just to get this application ta work...I've deleted every file in my LW folder to...But when I do a search, I still get a few files showin that I can not delete fer some reason.... |
Can you please double-check this, IROQ, as well as double-checking which version of LimeWire you are installing (it will say at the top of the installer)? You should be installing LimeWire 4.4.3. If the current installer were to freeze, it would not freeze during "unpack200.exe". We can potentially fix this if we have all the details, something we are lacking right now. |
Ok, i'm man enough to say I stand corrected....Just tried installing 4.4.3 and this time it worked...Thanks for all yer help... |
