I think LW 4.4.4 will detect it & uninstall it for you during the installation process.
LW 4.4 uses a different type of installer.
It's just occured to me you may have installed the international installer version & not the english one. The only differences were the different type of installer & the international one installed Java 1.3 & enforced LW to use it. If it is this version, then you would find an uninstaller in the LW program folder.
Java 1.3 is out of date now & you'd be much better updating to 4.4 & updating your Java if you haven't already.
