Have you tried Fixes for Limewire By the way re-installing Java is a wise thing to do but save the installer to your computer. Don't install it over the net.

Hmmm not sure which windows version you are using.

In WinXP start>control panel>add or remove programs ---- you can remove your java from there.

After removal of your old java you can download the new java to your comp. and install from there. Do not install over the net. This link is for the new java. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

Remove both those in the image you posted.

J2SE update 2 is the most current at this time. That is the one you want to download and install.

hmmm you also have 2 versions of LimeWire showing in the image. I would suggest you remove both versions from the start>all programs>limewire>uninstall

Then download LimeWire Version 4.8.1 to your comp. and install.

I've tried installing the new java, and still nothing helps me, i can't for the life of me figure out why limewire won't work. I double click the icon, and nothing happens. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

In the above image it looks as though you still had the LW installer active. Try deleting your LW Preferences as described in the 1st link I gave. Try going back a version of Java if nothing is happening. Try Java 1.4.2 which is also in the link I gave in my 1st post.

I wonder if you have some protection softw on your computer which is stopping LW from launching properly.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
