I uninstalled Limewire but its presence is still being detected by a security program. I looked in the Registry and found a key called "limewire", another "lim*" and a "*.lim". Also in about 8 others, like "socks.*", "ospw", and "winnt".
I am a rookie but at least think I'm capable of backing up registery and deleting a few keys. It would seem to me the most likely candidate causing the detection to be (obviously) the single "limewire" key. Am I correct that the first thing to try is deleting that key ? How about any of the others ? Thanks. This is very frustrating cleaning this thing out. And BTW I tried reinstalling and uninstalling again. But something is persisting because of an inelegant first attempt at uninstalling. Also BTW a directory search reveals no limewire files. |
