Limewire fails to install

Thank you for the reply. I am using Vista Business and have had all kinds of issues with this program from problems with itunes to Lime-wire. I believe it may have to do with Vista Business edition missing the media handlers.

Here is what I had to do to get Lime-wire to install correctly and work. I too was thinking virus, I use AT&T's security suite and ran a full scan and the system was clean. Next I ran a spyware scan and found grokster and Lime-wire spyware, removed those removed all entires in the registry that dealt with Lime-wire restarted the system, disabled the security suite and ran the install. Success

May I ask which sppyware scan you used? Reason I ask is many are not p2p friendly & will see many p2p programs as having spyware when in fact they don't & then muck up the program. But the fact it works is fantastic. I wonder if it was something you downloaded ... it's got me curious now. :)

Lime-wire fails to install

I use AT&T exclusively. It discovers spyware that Ewido and SpyBot do not detect. I managed 1100 mixed OS computers (Apple and Windows) I tried all kinds of spyware detection programs, found SpyBot the best until I started using AT&T. The systems I use to manage were in a middle school and it gave me the best platform to test all kinds of software to keep systems up and running. I developed scripts to image systems and found that some spyware and viruses can not be removed. So backups to a 7 TeraByte setup and Ghost to re-image was a life safer. On site I used Sophos, Mc Afee and on Apple Sophos and Dans Guardian and found that for windows AT&T security suite is the solution.

Thanks for the heads up on the Mac one. :) From what I've googled, AT & T sounds good. :)

Yes same issue with anti virus programs ... they do not all detect/remove all viruses. Some are slow to catch up (or never do) with definitions for some viruses that have been around for a while, which includes some of the so called 'major' AV companies. Strange that some of the free av programs can sometimes remove viruses that the major commercial AV programs cannot remove, and perhaps not even detect.

when i try to install all these errors come up and ask me to "try again" "abort" and "ignore"

I tried to download it, but now it won't even download. Everytime I hit the link and look at my download window, it says:

"This download has been blocked by your Security Zone Policy- Limewire.com"

Along with a giant Red circle with an "X" icon next to this message in the download window.

Why is this happening?
I've downloaded Limewire before, then one day I got the newer version and then it wouldn't run when I clicked it. I tried to re-download Limewire, but nothing seems to be working...

In your internet explorer -- temp disable your popup blocker -- allow it to download LW -- this will fix it

In addition to Skyliner's advice, download 'this' offline installer version: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe

Grandpa is retired from the forums. :)

BearShare section is really more appropriate for your question. However, a quick answer is B.S. sold out under court pressure, and the new owners have mangled the program in order to disable downloading copyright material. I'd suggest you get this version: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html there is a trick to use it however, so not sure if you would be happy with that. ;)
