Hello everyone,

I tried to install limewire 4.30 and java 1.50, limewire installs but java doesnt install and give me an error code 1721 something about windoze installer package not being installed????

Could you plz help me out? thanks in advance

hi everyone,

this is the error message i get when trying to install java 1.50 on my machine...

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package

SYMPTOMS

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installation has not completed and an error appears:

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.


CAUSE

Error 1722 is an InstallShield error code. It indicates that the installation process has failed. The exact reason for this error is not known at this time.


SOLUTION

There are two possible solutions.

Before trying any of these solutions, we recommend that you remove any traces of the failed JRE installation. To uninstall the JRE, follow the instructions at:
Uninstalling Java software

Install JRE Offline
Follow the instructions at:
Windows Offline Download and Installation Instructions

Install JRE in a Different Directory
Install the JRE offline using the custom option and install the JRE in a directory other than the default.

To install JRE offline using the custom setup option:
Download the JRE Windows offline installation executable file, jre-1_5_0-windows-i586.exe from:
Windows Manual Download and Installation Instructions
During installation, choose Setup Type as Custom.
The Setup Type dialog box appears.

I tried this method and nothing seems to work short of a full reformat or reinstall of windoze.

I'm thinking you may need to update your installshield. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=29039 I couldn't actually find an installshield 1712 error unless you got the no. mistaken. Win error for duplicate file. Incorrect passwd.

Then use the add/remove control panel to remove any traces of Java 1.5 that might be there. Then use the "offline" installer.
