 Problem with the Firewall Preparation Hi, I just got a new laptop with Windows XP and tried installing LW on it. The installation process is fine till I get to the Firewall preparation window. It tells me to unblock LW when the Windows Firewall asks me to and then, when I click 'Next' it freezes up. I've tried to install LW about 6 or 7 times from different sites and I still have the same problem. I downloaded the latest version of JAVA, but it didn't help. And everytime I re-boot the laptop after it freezes, I get a window with this: - Quote:

| Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) I think it might be best to uninstall it & try again. Go to Start menu >Programs>LW>Uninstall. Then downld the "Offline" installer. Then install LW from your computer rather than over the net. If still problems, it might be Java related. Use your Add/Remove programs control panel to remove Java. Install the "Offline" version of Java 1.4.2 instead. If that still doesn't work, try downlding the "offline" version of Java 1.5. Installing over the net sometimes results in incomplete/corrupt installations. Also, sometimes Java 1.5 or 1.4.2 don't behave well on some people's configurations. So one version does better for them than the other. See links for Java from here: Fixes for Limewire
