I was trying to get a new version of limewire when I tried to download the new version and it erased everything in my limewire file and now it won't let me update limewire and I get a message saying that I have an older version of limewire running. You must exit old version before continuing. Note that limewire may be running in system tray. To exit right click on lime icon and choose exit. Well, I tried to do what it said and now I don't see anymore lime icons. Is the system tray at the bottom of the screen in the lower right corner? Can anyone help me restore the limewire that I already had?

Yes lower left is the system tray/task bar. What would be easiest is to hold down the contol-alt-del keys & open Task Manager & then find limewire on the list & stop it. Then try installing.

1. Uninstall your Java by opening the Add/remove control panel & removing all java versions including js2, j2s*, etc.

2. Downld the "Offline" Java installer (about 19 MB) & then install it. Java 1.5 (take the JRE)

3. Delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included.)
