Default LimeWire GUI does not open ("nothing happens")

Hi list,

after I used the online installer for limewire and started the program, nothing really happened.
"limewire.exe" was added to running processes in the windows task-manager, but it's GUI did not open.

I then followed instructions found here: uninstalled both limewire and java, downloaded the manual installation packages, installed first java and successfully tested it on java.com, then installed limewire.
again, "limewire.exe" was reported as a running process in windows task-manager, but no user interface opened.

i'm using:

- windows xp home ed sp2
- jre 5.7
- limewire 4.10.9

is this a known issue?
what else can i do?

thanks in advance!

I had this once. What I did was, uninstalled Java and LW. Then I put them both on the desktop. Then I started the installation of LW (not having Java pre-installed). The LW client then used the JRE off-line installer by itself to install and integrate it into LW. I remember that I use the 1.5.0_05 to do so.
You might want to give it a try.

Another optionwould be to delete .limewire preference folder Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire
