Try steps 3 & 5 here: Fixes for Limewire

I wanted to let you know that I was having the same exact problem, but I finally got it to work by using fix #5. Thanks!!!

A suggested, steps 1,2,3 & 5 here Fixes for Limewire. That will mean using your add/remove control panel to remove all previous Java versions before reinstalling. For some people, even a reboot after doing all these steps may help (before trying LW again.) Also reinstall LW using the "Offline" LW installer from here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

selection 5 worked for me!

Do you mean changing LW's compatibility mode? It's fixed this problem in years past for many but not all people. Which mode did you choose?
