I must apologize if this is ignorant of me:

I uninstalled my version of Java, and went to the link shown in Tip #1, however, I don't see a 1.5 version on that page. I'm only seeing several downloads for version 5.0

So, I guess I will just try the one for 5.0 (JRE) and use the off-line install.
