I am somewhat familiar w/ LW, have 400 songs downloaded on my hard drive under c:documents and settings\owner\shared. I want to move all these files from the c: drive to a new external hard drive g: I went into tools/options/choose folder for saving files and made all the changes for storing into the new g: drive, but that didn't work. Thanks for any help.

Try creating a folder within the external drive & choose that instead of root drive. I think LW had some bug sometimes not allowing root level as the downld location. I know that's definitely been fixed in the beta. If still problems, check you have permissions on the external drive. I've never heard of that issue in windows but worth a try. You can give yourself permissions for it via the control panels > Management, etc.
Keep in mind "some" files presently downlding might still continue to downld to C drive. But new ones should go to the G drive. |

I created a subfolder in the g: drive, and was able to move a document into that file, but can't move any LW files. Can I assume that since I can move a file to the g drive that I have permissions.?
I must be doing something wrong in LW...do I need to make any changes w/ sharing , or just storing? |

I'm not a good one to ask about this because I had problems with my external & LW also. Perhaps someone else might have some ideas.
Just storing should be the only change you'd need to make. Previous threads on similar topics (exluding the external): (a) How to Change download location (click on link), __ (b) How to Change download location (click on link) (specific for folders), (c) How to move downloads to new location |

Ah Ha !! Thanks Lord...after reading an old thread, I see where someone else had the same problem moving files and said they had to move them all manually....so I did the drag and click, and viola!! Thanks
