I just purchased a new computer running the new windows vista home basic and i'm unable to install limewire is this because this program is so new are there any solutions

i downloaded beta version and it says i'm not conected to internet or firewall is blocking. my conection is fine and i turned firewall off. this windows vista is for the birds anyway to switch to xp? i've had many other problems with vista when it comes to music files media player 11 wont play mp3s i download from urge zune or itunes it says no sound device installed. yet i can play cds or listen to the music online. i even returnesd computer thinking i got a bad one but this one does the same thing. someone please help i'm ready to pull out my damn hair
