LimeWire Installers 1 Attachment(s) Swatson & 15robfre You will see from my attached screen print, in the yellow band under the huge green writing, that when downloading LW you have another chance to perform your download with the offline installer. I suggest that after the auto download has finished you then download from the offline installer. Hope this helps. UK Bob |

Peerless, HELP ! Boys and girls !!! 'AUTO DOWNLOAD' is = to a normal download of an application install file... But, I fear that it could be misread... i.e., 'DownLoad and then Auto-Install'... "AutoDownload" is certainly a serious misnomer here as it actually is in reference, common usage, to allowing a program to search for and download updates after said program has been successfully installed.) 'AutoDownload' in this instance STILL involves you having to make critical selections as to how to proceed... It is not 'AUTO' in any sense of the word... I say again... ALWAYS download ANY installer to a directory of your choice... NOT your 'Desktop' ! THEN, after virus scanning, proceed with the installation process. YOU MAINTAIN AT LEAST SOME DEGREE OF CONTROL. Do NOT select 'OPEN' when you are presented with a choice of what to do with your completed download. ALWAYS choose 'SAVE'. ALWAYS means 99.99% of the time... The exceptions are so rare that they are hardly worth mentioning here. pedantically yours, 'urs the curse' p.s. BEFORE... Yes, gang, BEFORE installing LimeWire or any other Java based application, it is certainly worth the brief and simple effort to FIRST go to the official Sun Microsystems Jave site and install Java DIRECTLY via them... If you already happen to have a current installation of Jave, this will cause you no problems... After installing the latest version of Java via Sun, you will be able to very easily confirm the installation as being correct. |
Here's the links...To what Ursula and UK Bob are suggesting... Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Java 6.1 has caused many conflicts with users latley... Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link... Lime Wire » Download LimeWire If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should |

It's a 75.7 KB .exe & shows up as "Urgent LW update - download & install now". If people download that thing they could end up infected. To try to prevent careless people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added to LW's interface. The padlock symbol doesn't apply to music or video etc, only to LW updates... |
