Can't install because previous version running I was having some problems with some files I downloaded, so I decided to take out limewire and delete all the files that were giving me trouble. I've uninstalled limewire a few times before and never had trouble. Anyways, I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled it. From reading other posts, I guess that is the wrong way of doing it. So, now the problem is there is still a version on my computer trying to start itself. I can't access the task manager to exit out of it. I can't install a new version because of the previous one running. I know how to search for limewire on my computer, but I don't know what to delete or do once all the files are found in order to stop or get rid of the previous version. Please help. |
I had that problem too. I searched in this forum and found out how to completely uninstall the Limewire. 1. Do like you have been doing previously, and use the uninstall as usual 2. Go to Search enter "Limewire" let the search get completely done, [you will see lot and lots of entries] delete all entries. Reboot and do the search again as a precaution that you "got'em all" sometimes there will be some hang overs left so that is why you need to do this. 3.Install a register delete called "Registry Crawler" [It is free for a trial period] run this in EVERY MODE it has. Delete everything that has "Limewire" found by the "Registry Crawler" 4. Reboot and run the "Registry Crawler" a second time. Limewire is very hard to remove. Just be patient do all this over and over until ALL the traces are gone. I was also advised to load the NEW Limewire from only official Limewire downloads. Good luck |
