Default New install gets splash screen then nothing

Just installed Limewire 4.12.15 Pro. It gets through to the splash screen (before the installation wizard starts) then the splash screen disappears and Limewire doesn't seem to be running (can't find it in the apps or process lists).

1. I uninstalled LW and reinstalled LW....
2. I uninstalled Java and reinstalled Java....
3. I uninstalledLW, uninstalled Java, reinstalled Java then reinstalled Limewire.

I totally opened up my Firewall... which really doesn't appear to be the issue since I can get WM Pro to run on my Laptop with just about the same config OS and s/w config as the desktop I'm trying to get LW to run on (obviously something's different but I can't figure out what I should try next).

Anyone?

Try it one more time...Using these links...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire
