Upgrade/update

I purchased Pro last year. Have had no problem with it at all. I did what i thought was an update and the next thing I know, i no longer have Pro. I still have all my mp3 files but am disappointed at not having pro anymore.

I have tried going thru Support, but my email address apparently is not valid.

Please help, I want my PRO back!!!

Remoc September 23rd, 2007 11:32 AM

Probably not what you want to here, but if it's been longer than 6 months then you will have to buy Pro again. Now they offer Pro for a year if that's better for you. Hope this helps. :D

marand93 September 23rd, 2007 11:35 AM

Your're right, its not what i wanted to hear. Shame. Thanks anyway.:bangh:

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 02:30 PM

Hi, it seems odd there are many of us out there that have suddenly lost our LW PRO and now need to repurchase it. Doesn't this seem strange to anyone?

kukudad September 25th, 2007 04:43 PM

Aha, they wont MORE...MORE...

Unfortunately I am not able to help you but I have exactly the same situation...and also my email address doesn't work for tech. support help...so I don't know what to do...obviosuly they want some money from time to time although when I subscribed for Lime Wire it was for life...one time fee...eheehee
If somebody has an idea how to get back our Pro and update at the same time please let us know...

Remoc September 25th, 2007 05:27 PM

KuKuDad, You were SCAMMED. There's no such thing as a Lifetime subscription. Limewire Basic is Free for ever. Limewire Pro is offered for a 6 month and recently a 12 month subscription.

Only download Limewire from here.

Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «. :D

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 06:21 PM

I discovered in another thread that I was also scammed by purchasing a 'lifetime' membership to LimeWire. The fella who posted kept referring to me as "novice internet" user. However, I am not, and I know, I remember downloading from LimeWire website....not from some other website, a one time purchase for access. I was flipping back and forth between LW and Napster for pete's sake.
I realize the super-duper, turbo-charged thingy was an additional fee, which I also purchased, with the assumption it was also "lifetime".
And with the new upgrade, many of us have suddenly lost our PRO...and we mysteriously no longer are listed in their databases, since they reject our email addresses when we seek tech support. Now if that sure don't smell funny.
But LimeWire must be counting the bucks today, since we all need to re-purchase our PRO, and are now stuck with old software technology. I don't even have 4.14...my basic LW keeps loading 4.10.
AND, there was no indication that purchasing PRO was on a 6mo or 1 yr term.
I think LimeWire need to make money and we are suffering the consequences. I think I'll hold out on buying PRO again, nervous LW will send out a new upgrade in a month or two. - sour grapes indeed -:nono:

Remoc September 25th, 2007 06:32 PM

Well I respectfully disagree with you. You were scammed believe it or not. Go to the original Limewire site and you will see that there is NO Lifetime offer. Sorry.

Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «.

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 06:44 PM

Even though it seems many of us were scammed, since LimeWire's website clearly states it is FREE today, was it FREE in January 2006 when I perused their site? Only LW can answer that. Additionally, when I purchased PRO in Feb 2006, there was no indication of a time frame. I'm not the only one with similar concerns, as a read through many threads, a lot of people lost their PRO.

Remoc September 25th, 2007 07:01 PM

BASIC is FREE and always has been AFAIK. PRO is what you pay for. Like I said earlier, you were SCAMMED into BUYING Basic.
For the sake of argument, All I can say is be carefull and you might want to check your past bank or CC statements,as these ROUGE SCAM sites will continue to charge your account after you have paid for your "Life Time" Subscription.

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 07:12 PM

Sorry, I just need to say this.
Look at LimeWire's page for purchasing PRO.
If you buy the regular one, notice how they sell it...

"Get Pro for a single payment of only $24.95".

Better search resultshttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrcl...icon-check.gifhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrclean/jman/icon-x.gifTurbo-charged download speedshttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrcl...icon-check.gifhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrclean/jman/icon-x.gifConnections to more sourceshttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrcl...icon-check.gifhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrclean/jman/icon-x.gifSpecial PRO only skinhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrcl...icon-check.gifhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrclean/jman/icon-x.gif[B****** tech support via emailhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrcl...icon-check.gifhttp://www.limewire.com/new/img/mrclean/jman/icon-x.gif[B****** updates for up to 6 months

Where does it state you will only get PRO for 6 months for your $24.95. It states "Get Pro for a SINGLE payment". Who or what are free updates for 6 months? Did anyone actually need tech support until now? Witness, the sudden newbie posters.

Okay, then they have the nerve to follow up with....

NEW - extended value.
Extend your PRO benefits!
Get PRO for 1 year for only $34.95!

We are now privy to a time frame of usage.

But NEW was not an option in 2006. So, those of us who purchased PRO long ago, under the assumption it was a lifetime deal, got scammed by clever wording and backdoor marketing.

colleen if you click(About) where it says what is limewire read that it says quote ( basic a free version, or limewire pro an enhanced version with personalized technical support offered at &24.95 for 6 months and &34.95 for 1 year :xeri_ok1ani:

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 09:17 PM

:bangh:
Sorry, sweet pie.....I just don't see it....nor do I see it in their ABOUT tag...any price differentials or time purchases. It simply is not made clear to consumers.
There was no such thing as extended PRO usage.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy LW, don't have a large library, so this doesn't affect me much. But for the users who do depend on it, I feel for those newbie posters (like me) who wrote the exact same problem as I did, the newbie 1-2 year users,
coincidence...I don't think so.

Frankly, we can discuss this over and over until Britney gets out of rehab, fact is, some of us got screwed. It's not about lifetime membership to LW, it's about the purchase of PRO last year. These are two different things. Yes, some of us may have been scammed by purchasing LimeWire BASIC, but we sure in hell weren't scammed by LimeWire who directly scrolls their messages to upgrade...help us, help you....

But really, let's sue....let's get in line, all us scammed PRO consumers....we're just 156,900,445 in line.

michwayne September 25th, 2007 09:48 PM

they do beet around the bush a bit but that's what that mean when they say what I said they said which they did say personally im happy with my basic and I cant pay for pro cause im not rich ha ha

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 10:03 PM

I know...why in the world would I buy super duper extended one year PRO, when I only used LW about 10 hours max .....a month, maybe 2 CDs out of it. Even then, when I had PRO last year, couldn't get ****! need more sources, need this and that....junk. I never got the songs I wanted. Never got the movie I wanted "****", got porn instead. LimeWire needs some adjustments, maybe a "kid friendly" approach.
Right now, I'm not too pleased with LW....awful, awful mindsets there in the boardroom, these execs eating sushi, deciding what we and our children download to achieve open protocols?? eh?

Have you peroused thru the Stickies in the Upload/Download section to try to find answers about these issues? MAJOR TOPICS for Upload/Download HELP. These problems are due to groups trying to destroy the gnutella network. Here's a few of such groups sponsored to destroy the gnutella network: (1) Overpeers, (2) MediaSentry, (3) Mediadefender. As discussed here what is happening to Limewire ?

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 11:09 PM

Lord of the Rings, you are correct...I have not attempted to find out solutions as you prescribed....I was overcome by the loss of my LW PRO and flamed basically everyone. Sorry. I wish I had more manners than you....thank you, I truly like my LimeWire and having something removed from it feels....criminal almost. But I'm sure I'll survive. I can't hold back my feelings of being "slighted" though, I just feel I'm too old to be taken by an energy who wants to offer goodness.

Lord of the Rings September 25th, 2007 11:18 PM

I always back up my installers. I also bookmark my pro page. In that way, I can always fall back to a previous version if one seems to be too buggy or under-performing. Also the pro-page will show if I am nearing the end of my period of pro (they generally offer a discount for continuing with pro ... at least used to over the last 4 weeks of the period of support .. not sure if they still do.)

colleenanddaniel September 25th, 2007 11:52 PM

This is probably why I had problem. In the last year, I purchased (under false pretense it seems) LimeWire, then upgraded to PRO, then my computer died, had to upgrade OS to XP...yada, yada...then I switched my ISP, no wonder LW can't find me. But it's difficult to inform them of my new address, since they only receive paying customer's address'

marand93 September 26th, 2007 01:10 AM

It is an odd one this. I gave them my email address that hasnt changed since Moses was a lad. But no, they cant find me either. Dont really like using the word scam, but on this occasion...

Last year & earlier LW Pro support & updates lasted only 6 months. Once the 6 months passes, your email address is automatically removed from their data systems. That's why your email address doesn't register. Last year was more than 6 months ago. At least very recently they introduced a 12 month option.

BJLindsay September 26th, 2007 07:59 AM

This same thing happened to me when I just updated. I got a message asking me to update to pro. I can't dowload Pro and Limewire can't find my email address. I know that I didn't get scammed by anyone other than Limewire because I went directly to the Limewire website at Limewire.com not through a search engine. I never saw anywhere on the site that said it was for only six months and I haven't had it for 6 months anyhow. How are we suppose to get any tech support that we paid for on this message board? Isn't there suppose to be some kind of monitor that answers these questions?

Lord of the Rings September 26th, 2007 08:55 AM

limenathan (click on link). It is & was listed on more than one page between the main & pro pages about the support was only for 6 months.

t-bone85 September 26th, 2007 01:53 PM

My PRO still works, Turbo-Charged Connection and all, and my email isn't found when I try to upgrade, so anyone tempted to regurgitate that horsecrap about it expiring can bite their lip. Downloaded from the LimeWire site, full functionality. It's the real deal.

I don't really care, and getting help from LimeWire is about worthless, what with the LimeWire facade for the Gnutella forum. Signed up for the LimeWire forum to realize there isn't any content.

Whenever PRO stops working for me I'll just leave it be. PRO doesn't really make things that much better. Still tons of garbage with each search, links to outside sites, etc.

BJLindsay September 26th, 2007 07:27 PM

I saw on one of the post to send a private message to limenathan if you had a problem with getting Pro back after an update. So I did that today. I explained how I purchased it from Limewire.com and it said it was the one payment when I purchased it. Furthermore even if it was for only six months I have not had it for 6 months. I get this reply
Just to make sure, the only site you can get LimeWire PRO is at Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «. There is no other official site.

That said, LimeWire PRO comes with 6 months of access to your download page. We started offering the 1 year option about a month ago. So if you purchased more than 6 months ago, your access has expired.

You will need to purchase it again, or switch to LimeWire Basic in order to download the program again.

Good luck!

-Nathan

I then sent back a message with a furhter explanation
I did purchase and dowload it from Limewire.com and I have not had it longer than six months. That is where I am having my problem. the Limewire website is not reconizing my email address so I can get my download page sent to me. I must have accidently deleted the email that contained the download page.
I get this message back
If you've had it longer than 6 months, then your access to your download page has expired.

You will need to repurchase LimeWire PRO in order to access a new download page.

-Nathan

IT seems to me that they just want to give the run around until people give in and pay more money because I plainly stated in every message that I have NOT had it for more than 6 months. It is like he doesn't even read the message just pushes paying more money. Well it is not going to happen. Pro wasn't all that better anyhow.

colleenanddaniel September 26th, 2007 07:41 PM

Hi LOTR,
I didn't want to start another thread, am certain you would be able to help me with this...my LW search results now indicate a warning "only search results with a -lock thing- are official LW communications" then point me to a virus and trojan warning page. I have never seen this before. I am operating LW as I normally would. I tested the speed factor and a very popular muscian/song is still at 11% complete.....something that would have been mere seconds before. Am I losing my LimeWire?

birdy September 26th, 2007 07:44 PM

Hi BJLindsay,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I'd suggest that you go back through your credit card statements...write down the date that you purchased Pro. Also check the vendor name beside the purchase (if the vendor isn't Limewire LLC then you don't have a leg to stand on). Providing the vendor is Limewire LLC, send limenathan another PM with the date that you purchased Pro & explain that you've got this info from your CC statement.

Good luck:)
