Hello.
I have used limewire many times in the past and this is the 1st time i am having java install issues. 1. I try to intall limewire (have tried many different versions) and it gives a java install error. 2. I downloaded java myself and tried to install it, which it did. and it works fine. 3. I launch limewire and it states that i have no java runtime environment installed. I am runnning windows 7. (build 7100) Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about Windows 7 in comparison to Vista. But try right-clicking the LW shortcut & choose Run as Administrator. This might help your situation, not sure.
Did you install using the Offline installer? http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp It's about 15 MB in size. Make sure there are no older versions of Java on your system. Check Add/Remove Programs control panel. Also run this utility Crap Cleaner to clean up registry, click on the Registry tab on left-hand side after you open it. |

Try this version http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post236880 simply unzip & use. This one might have better luck.
![]() BTW go to Control panel, find the Java control panel & check the options. Under Java -> View, it should say which version is installed & if it is enabled or not. It needs to be Java 1.6 for LW 5. |

BTW I gave it a 5 star Rating, since it wlll most likely find people in a similar scenario.
Edited to provide more info: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...-wont-run.html Which version of Java should I download for my Windows 64-bit operating system? . (Has links to both 32 and 64 bit Java installers) Another post to look at is this one: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tallation.html * Set both LW and Java installers to run as Administrator by right-clicking them & choosing that option before installing either of them. (For LW you can right-click the shortcut on desktop & choose 'Run as Admin' option after installing (Sample image), to do equivalent with Java is a little more tricky, see above "Java not found" link in point #6.)Edit: (a) LW 5 and LPE will not launch with Java 7 (1.7) directly. A workaround fix was found by pongo1 here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post368753 LW 4 versions are unaffected and will happily run under Java 7. (b) 64-Bit Java 7 Update problems.
