Limewire will not run I just upgraded limewire from version 4.1.3 to version 5.3.6, and as I went to open it, the limewire loading screen appears for a few seconds and then disapears. Limewire does not open after that. just for referances Im running windows xp sp3. Anyone that can help would be great :sos::sos::sos::sos::sos::sos::sos::sos::sos::sos: :sos::sos::sos::sos: |
sounds like what I typically think of as a lack of Java issue...have you updated your version of Java? |
Firstly, try right-clicking LW & change compatibility mode to either NT or 2000. Try each & see if it helps. Also try changing to run as admin. Steps 5 & 6 here: Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link) If still problems then see below: Try this reinstall method http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html |
I have tried all but the reinstall. my java is up to date and Ive tried both nt and 200 compatability modes, along with running as admin. lime limewire 4 worked fine for me but when I installed this one it wont run except for the loading screen and then nothing else.:mad2::confused::mad2::confused::mad2: |
Sounds like a problem with installation of either LW or Java then. Using the above reinstallation technique of each, which includes cleaning registry & deleting the LW preferences folder should fix the problem. :) Oh to delete the LW preferences folder see step 2 & 3 in the first link I gave above. ;) |
Thanks for the help. Still did not work though. I tried all of the above. I think what Ill end up doing is redownloading limewire 4. it worked fine for me, I just wanted to0 stay up to date.:bangh: |

Still not working So, I tried to pause my Kaspersky anti virus and I still cannot install Limewire!! Any other suggestions?? -Kim:whistling: |
Strange ... I have kapersky but installing various versions of LW has never had any problems with kapersky. Yes, 1. make sure you have Java installed: Java Downloads for All Operating Systems - Sun Microsystems 2. Use this version Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!. Add LimeWire to your Kapersky firewall exceptions before you run LW. |
