i was jus browsing through this cos i encountered the same problem for awhile and couldn't figure out what to do considering there is very little help out there and im guessing that only a very few ppl suffer from this problem.
But just as mentioned, my machine froze up when the ogg directshow thing popped up in the system tray and locked the machine up.
Ok, what I did
Run dxdiag from the start menu, command prompt whatever.
Hit "Save All Information" tab at the bottom right when its finished scanning. This will produce a notepad file which you shuld save to desktop to look at.
Open this notepad file and press Ctrl + F to bring up the search and simply type ogg hitting enter key. This should point out the problem OggDS.dll files linked to the system lock up.
Go to the search menu in start up and look for the for the suspect files you have uncovered from the dxdiag notepad file such as the OggDS.dll. Enter these into the search and delete accordingly.
Some would be located in the system 32 folder which is fine, others you may find with your media players like VLC. Being extremely pi**ed by this point of with the lock up issue, I deleted all the associated Ogg files which seems to have done the trick.
If anything, you can always download whatever u need again, probably a bad download in the first place that caused the problem.
Safe guys, hope this is of some help. |
