Default Not Connecting Limewire 4.18.8 Pro on Wind 7 Pro 64 Bit

I have a brand new install of Win 7 Pro 64 Bit installed on my new hard drive I have Limewire PRO 4.18.8 saved on flash drive which has always worked. I have installed this on 2 other systems with Win 7 Pro 64 bit & those 2 are running it fine so I am confused as to what the deal is. I have tried to use Java version 6 in case Java was the problem but Limewire still will not get past the "Connecting" part and run. Any ideas of help for this?

Make sure this LW is not using the same connection ports as any of the other computers. The router will only accept one port per computer and per application during a computer session.

I presume you have tried the connection fixes?

Did you set Java to Run as Administrator? Seems to be important for connecting issues with at least Windows 7 or later. Search the Java.exe file and right-click and choose Run as Admin. This can also be done via choosing properties.

Is there a 64-bit Java 1.6? My thoughts were they were all 32 bit or the 1.6 is no longer available for 64-bit java. Other than administrator settings, Java should not normally be an issue for LW 4 versions.

Sometimes a reboot can help sort connection issues out. Particularly if you installed a fresh connection file.

Other thought, is with LW 4 I always needed to disable some of the advanced options -> performance options, in the preferences on a Mac computer for it to connect. Usually TLS was the problematic issue. As soon as I disabled that option, LW would connect within a minute. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

BTW if you want to check to be sure a particular port is open on the computer at a particular time, try this tool www.canyouseeme.org which seems to work quite well. Particularly helpful for checking port forwarding has worked. Just type/copy-paste in the port number you wish to check.

As for UPnP abilities, LW can be a little slow at times for it to finally communicate properly with the router and a port be opened. This can be slowed down by large shares, lots of incomplete files, etc. as LW loads them when it opens.

Double-check LW is on the computer's firewall allowed/exceptions list. And possibly any other security software for that matter, since some can block LW without reason.

I just noticed you had this same problem previously with Windows XP on different machines, http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post352579

From what I have learnt since then, at least for my router brand it is possible to port forward and run UPnP at same time even for same computer but different ports and applications.

Something else I have learnt more about since then is the unreliability of wireless networking and UPnP. Too many connections and the wireless system struggles. Using LW usually results in lots of connections albeit indirectly with spam hosts and the like pinging your client.

Are you still using a AT&T 2Wire Router?

Default Limewire fails to connect on Win 7 Pro 64 Bit

Actually Yes I am using AT&T 2wire router & it is brand new not even a month old. Also this is a Fresh install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a brand new 500GB Hard Drive and Limewire 4.18.8 has not even started up once on it. This system is a desk top direct connect thru ethernet. The previous hard drive was a 500GB with Windows XP Pro and it works on it just fine. My Laptop is barely a year old it has 250GB Hard Drive with Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit running on it and Limewire Pro 4.18.8 is running on it just fine too so this really makes no sense to me. Right now only one system on this router is running limewire before I changed hard drives 2 systems with different versions of Windows has ran the program just fine. I even tried to install it with Java version 6 to get this to work and that didn't help any, I also tried to use the Limewire fix 2 and it still does not want to fully run just stays stuck on starting connection. I tried the older version of Frostwire which is similar to Limewire Pro 4.18.8 and it too does the same the that my Limewire Pro is doing.

Sorry I missed your reply somehow.
Something I learnt about the 2Wire routers a day or two ago is you can allow applications per computer through the router's NAT firewall.

Check this post http://www.gnutellaforums.com/371489-post91.html This 'might' be the problem. (similar problem of no p2p apps connecting.)
You will probably need to find the address of your computer's network address. Here's one way http://www.markacadey.net/go/myip/ using ipconfig command.

This might be why only one computer is connecting with these applications. Your new computer might have a different network address to the firewall allowance(s) that is already there.
