yeah. kazaa and lw should run ok in parallel. i have friends who use them both together all the time.

actually, if you start lw and anything else is already using 6346, lw will automatically switch to 6347 or 8, i believe.

it must be something else.

--had the connection problem this weekend. Turned out that my ISP solved it by replacing the COM21 cable modem with a DOCKSIS. The tech said the COM21 was not very good for "broadcasting" (luckily he was a p2p kinda guy).
He also routed me to a different hub.

So it was an ISP harware/network problem. Ask for a ping test to their DNS servers and see if they see packet loss and slow ping times. Only they know what's "Slow" for them.

Will Not Connect

I am having the problem with connecting. Had LimeWire 1.7 and just paid for the upgrade to LimeWire Pro. Once I downloaded and opened the program, I was never able to "Connect" via the Search button. I got the same constant red light until I clicked the "Connect" button under the File tab. Then the light turns green and the search button enables for a slit second, then back to red. What's the deal? I have Windows 2000 Pro and Cable net access (so it's always connected). I have paused my Avast 32 virus software. Nothing seems to work and I'm not a patient person. What to do? Please advise.
Thanks,
KW

Did you delete all the old Limewire prefs? You'll also need to make sure port 6346 (or whatever you want) is opened in any firewall or forwarded in any router you use.

can't connect

I deleted the entire 1.7 file (the old version of Lime Wire). Just went into the advanced options and set the function to allow 6346(?) capability. Still hasn't help. I have only been on line with the new version for 2 hours, so maybe that is the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.

What OS are you using? I vaguely recall the old versions used invisible files--I had to search for "limew" with visibility set to "all" in the past to find where the prefs were stored.

Can't Connect

The OS is Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks--I'm on a Mac using OSX, so I wouldn't know where LW stores its old prefs on Windows. Sorry--maybe someone who knows Windows will pitch in to help.

Also, open up port 6346 on your firewall, both hardware and software.

How would I go about doing that (opening the port for both hardware and software)? I was able to enable something through LW, but nothing on my computer.
Thanks
