Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. ![]() I have the same exact problem! internet connection? modem 56k v90 router? no firewall? no OS version? 10 limewire version? basic (just downloaded it today, so I assume the newest one) Also, I am contected through AOL, but I'm using Explorer for a browser. I had no problems installing, but when I press connect the light goes green for a second then goes back to red. Please help. |
| |||
![]() the only case i could reproduce this (green flashing quickly just to go back to red) happening was when there was no connection to the internet i assume all of you are connected. i don't know what OS X specific issues there are (using windows and sometimes 9.2, and in both cases 2.9.10 works flawlessly). |
| |||
![]() I also have the same exact problem! internet connection? T1 router? yes firewall? yes OS version? 10.2.6 limewire version? PRO Although I am behind a firewall (at work), this problem started suddenly and without change at all on my end. I have the same problem at home with my 56K dial-up connection where there is NO firewall. I'm using Explorer for a browser in both places. I also had no problems installing, but the light goes green for a second then goes back to red when I press connect. Please help, I'm so frustrated! What's more, is that when I finally DO connect, I am rarely successful in downloading anything. Many times, things will start downloading, and then say "Could not download; awaiting more sources". |

![]() if i understand correctly, you usually do get a connection, after a bunch of failed attempts? is that both at home and at work? my guess is that at work the firewall blocks all suspicious traffic, i.e. traffic that doesn't uses the 'common' ports used for http, mail, ftp etc. You would have to talk to whoever is in charge of the network at your office and ask them about it. regarding your connection at home: the light stays red until limewire establishes a connection. you can check in the 'connection' tab. if there's a whole bunch of hosts 'connecting' or 'handshaking', then it's probably just a matter of time until limewire establishes a connection. it can take a minute or two, the more frequently you connect, the quicker you usually get a connection. if there's nothing in the 'connection' tab, then something is wrong. always make sure that you are already dialled in when you open limewire. regarding the search and download success: that highly depends on what you look for. some stuff is just not very widespread and you don't get many download sources. i tend to not download if there's less than 4 hosts offering the file. i haven't used limewire over a modem connection for a while but i remember when i used to it was always somewhat painful, just because there's so little bandwidth. switching to cable or dsl would probably help get better search and download results. hope that helps. good luck! btw: i don't think your using explorer has any effect on the functionality of limewire, although you would get a lot less popup ads if you were using Mozilla ;-). but that's beside the point. |

![]() Actually, I was having no problems downloading from work (even with a firewall) on the T1 line until a few weeks ago. I have talked to the Administrators here, and there have been NO changes made on their end. At all. So, I seriously doubt that the problem is on this end. Anyway, it seems like TONS of people are having this same problem, even without a firewall. So why doesn't Limewire figure out how to fix it? I don't have a Connections Tab, although I have PRO (which, like I said, seems to NOT be worth the money). The searches that I'm attempting are very popular, returning 100+ results. Things like "Coldplay" and "Radiohead" are not very remote. I click to download them, they appear in my Downloads window, they say "Connecting"...and then they change to "Could not download; awaiting more hosts". How many hosts do I need? The song came up in the results, right? I thought that PRO was supposed to work BETTER than the free version, and I'm losing my patience with it.At home, on my 56K dial-up, I AM connected to the internet when I am trying to connect to Limewire. Sending email, reading news...everything else is working fine. Except the version of Limewire that I paid for. |

![]() the pro version is not better. it just comes with support, and no ads. i think there's a link on the limewire site for 'pro' support. i've never used it since I only have free limewire (with ads). since you have a pro version, you should maybe go there. regarding your downloads. there's one thing that might help: to reduce network traffic, limewire doesn not do automated re-queries any more (since version 2.9.x). in 2.8.x or lower, limewire would automatically re-search for a file in the download queue after a certain amount of time. limewire doesn't do this any more, so, if you download from 4 hosts, and these hosts all disconnect, your download stops. there is a solution, however: you can manually re-search for the same file. if limewire finds new hosts, it will add them to your download queue. so just re-search when the download stops, or, say, every hour or so, that could solve your problem. regarding limewire figuring out how to fix it: i think there are links on the limewire site somewhere to get in touch with the developers. so maybe you should do that, having paid for the pro version |
