Now this is interesting. I took the filters off so that I'll accept *any* hit on a search. Searched Mozart just before and got 23 hits. Searched it after and got 92 hits. Headed in the right direction, but n.b. 90 of those hits should have gotten through my filters. All 90 are 3+ stars and cable or better. There's something wrong with the filters. Where are they implemented, at the client end or the responder end? Nor is this the whole story. If I search on 'Mozart Requiem' I get a set of hits. But if I search on 'Mozart' almost none of the Requiem hits show up in that search. How is that possible? |
I'm not going to answer you last post, at least for now. But LW 4.4.1 is the official release. Beta is at 4.3.3 I think. Unfortunately the webmasters are very slow at updating their websites. They say 4.2.6 but it's actually 4.4.1!!! Version 4.2.6 was about 5.7 MB in size whereas 4.4 is about 3.7 MB in size. As soon as you press the downld your browser downld window will tell you the total size. See: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml Reduce your filters to zero. Accept all incoming qualities in your searches. See how many mozarts you get now. |
Okay, 4.4.1 up and running. Search on Mozart now returning 113 hits. One thing I did that I'd forgotten is apply a couple options from the web site, the important one being to reject IPs of 192.168.*.* and 10.*.*.*. I expected this to affect leaf nodes since it's entirely possible that many aren't properly configured. But I didn't expect to affect many Ultrapeers, and isn't the peer where searches are resolved? |
Hey, where'd the Ultrapeer option go? It says I am one, but what if I didn't want to be? |
in LW 1)tools 2) options 3)speed |
Oh yeah. Lost it. Thanks. Might "OOB Searching" have something to do with this? It's not very well explained. |
Possibly, but from what I have read OOB should just speed up searches. Try enabling it and disabling it and see which works best for you. Don't forget to click apply for the changes to take effect. |
