I installed and reinstalled and redownloaded Limewire numerous times and I've tried installing older versions and I still get this error when I try to open it: (It first says something about a file seems to be corrupted. It used to work but then it suddenly crashed and then I had to replace my hard drive so I started with a clean install but it still doesn't work now.)

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire If that doesn't work, re-install Java using that same link & reboot before opening LW.

I don't have a .limewire folder (LW preferences?) I've never been able to open limewire so the folder maybe has never been created.

That's fine .. then re-install Java, if that doesn't work .. install the previous version 1.4.2 I gave the link to above.

I tried reinstalling java (also older version 1.4?) but with no difference. Can you tell from the error message posted if it is a LW problem or java problem?

Is there any way (without erasing hard drive and reinstalling windows) to be possitive that java or LW are completely uninstalled? Even when I manually uninstall LW and reinstall it, it says it is first uninstalling older versions so there must be some remnants left after manually uninstalling it. Is there some way to get rid of everything that has to do with any of these programs (registry entries, etc)? Also, the first time I installed LW it wanted to install Java also but there were connection problems so it told me to do it manually. So even now, after I uninstall Java and reinstall LW it doesn't try to install java so java must still be on the computer. Make sense?

I guess if I can't get this fixed up I just have to say goodbye to the money spent on it and give up or hope that if it is a bug that it will be fixed up in the next version, but I'll have to remember to manually check for newer versions as I can't get into limewire for it to tell me of new releases.

Try uninstalling LimeWire and Java from add or remove programs.

Use window explorer and search your hard drive for anything LimeWire and Java. If you find any delete/remove it.

In control panel>network connections --- highlight --- select repair from the left side of the screen.

When finished with this re-boot comp. D/L Java and LimeWire to your desktop and install from there. Java first then re-boot comp.
Then LW.

It appears you may have more than one instance of each on your comp.

Your post with the report looks foreign to me, and I don't understand what its says.

Do you all work for Limewire? I sent a note to them and they said I would receive a message shortly (it's been about a day now) but maybe they'll have some solutions.

Its probably something to do with this computer or a conflict with another program or a network problem. I thought I'd chance trying to install it on another computer last night and it seemed successful (although that's how it was on this computer earlier too). It's been running all night and I've downloaded several 700mb files and some other large ones and it was still going this morning. I had the second last version on another computer but other programs crashed because of it. I guess I'll just submit to having (trying) it on the computer its on even though it isn't the ideal situation.
