getting no search results

I'm running windows xp and windows firewall. I've already set my internet connection and firewall to allow lime wire, and gnutella. I'm not getting anymore error messages, but I'm still getting no search results no matter what I'm searching for.. The connection quality thing in the lower right hand corner is only on the first bar and it says that it's still connecting to the network. My limewire used to work well then it just started messing up.. I've reinstalled it a few times too. I also am running 4.9.7 now. Any help would be great.

Hmm it could be your isp provider putting a filter on your speeds or just totally blocking LW. Some isp's will do this if they detect you using large amounts of bandwidth. See ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

* Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

What you can try are:

1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

2. Change the port LW uses. Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall & change the listening port from 6346 to another like these: 3500, 1203, 80, 20282, or 443. After changing press the apply button. I'm not sure whether you'll need to close & re-open LW, but you can try File>Connect/Disconnect & connect. Then give LW ample time to connect & settle down.

ok I don't think it's the isp cause it works fine on our windows 98 box, and it's on the same network. It used to work on this one just fine. I changed the port numbers and tried that test out.. The test said it worked. I am about to restart LW and see what happens

I tried that and still nothing I changed the port to 3500, and it still won't connect and I still get the message saying that it's being blocked. I'll disable the firewall just for ***** and giggles. Keep in mind the other pc has it and it's been working just fine so it shouldn't be an isp problem ... should it?? I'll let ya know......
