Firewall Problems

hey i know this seems to be a common problem and there are threads with detailed explanations with how to fix these problems but i am getting lost! especially with all these different versions of limewire. please please can someone give me some advice.

- i am on limewire version 4.9.27

- i have windows firewall xp whatever its called and i have permitted limewire (i have also disabled firewall but it wont work)

- i have also allowed gunutella in my network connections as advised by limewire.

- i have followed the steps on deleting the folder, disabling tips, and limewire to run on start up.

- i have come to the conclusion that my isp is blocking the ports i need to all p2p programs (Although soulseek works ok on my computer, it is a bit slow sometimes)

- i dont understand what i need to do regarding proxy numbers and all that, and think this is where my problem is.

- i am desperate to use limewire, i have done in the past on different computers and i have confidence in it that i dont have with other p2p programs such as kazaa. if limewire will not work on my computer however because of the blocks can anyone recommend at program that will work and is secure enough not to mess up my computer

any advice will be greatly appreaciated. i need my music!!
