Is your router firmware updated ? The first link there was about problems with portforwarding without the new firmware.

Seriously try to register at the forum (second link) and ask about this)

When you tried to portforward are you absolutely sure that you did it correctly ie. setting up a static IP that your router accepts (usually the next 100 numbers ) eg on my new one it's 192.168.2.1 so my static IP must be between 192.168.2.101 and 192.168.2.199.

Also in Limewire is your manual port forward port and your listening port the exact same port (recommended is one between 49153 and 65535)

With the port forwarding when I typed all the IP, and subnet, and deflut gateway, and what not I tried to connect to the internet and it wouldn't let me so I had to change everything back to its defult setting. Also on that portforwarding website they don't have my model of router so I had to use the last model's instructions. But that wasn't much of a deal it was the part of setting up the static IP

To your information (from the Linksys website about your router):

"The Router protects your PC from most known Internet attacks with a powerful Stateful Packet Inspection firewall."

Go and download the new firmware for it:
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper

And here the direct link to Port forwarding regarding your router configuration for Limewire:
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm

All other information is given to you by the post of sleepless.....
You just have to follow it to the point.
And since your router has a strong firewall, there will be no need to have any other (software base). Disable and/or uninstall them where possible.

Was the default setting to automatically assign Ip address, subnetmask etc. ?

If it was then there is a way to see those settings. Just have to find the instructions

While connected to the internet

press start>run. Type cmd into the box and press enter

then type ipconfig (if that shows some other connection then type ipconfig \all)

You will then see IP Address, Subnet mask, Gateway IP etc.

Just make a note of these things and fill them into the boxes manually
