These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. ![]() hi new to the forum so hi, i have been using bt home hub for a few months now and had it configured to work with lw pro and had no problems but....i moved house and now the firewall (wall in front of globe) is back again. is this because i moved? im a bit of a novice when it comes to ports and connections and actually configured bt the first time by luck lol so any plain english help would be great thanks moony0707 |

![]() 1. Make sure you configured XP firewall to enable LW full access: (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) 2. And a few more details will help us: System details - help us to help you (click on link) |

![]() my windows firewall is configured to accept limewire also it is turned off anyway, i have went into my bt homehub settings and as far as i can tell i have allowed limewire there too, i have read other threads that say bt stop p2p but like i said earlier it worked fine untill i moved home. anyway here is the other info you wanted 1. windows xp home 2. none active (windows disabled)( cant disable homehub firewall but lw alloawed) 3. 512 4. 44gb 5. broadband 6. bt homehub option3 7. home 8. lw 4.12.6 java 1.5.0_09 9. bt 10. your test worked 11. no 12. new problem 13. yes |

![]() bt may shape or block regionally or else, detected high bandwidth usage with LW & then applied the brakes. I don't know anything about the 'bt homehub option3', do you have a link to a page that describes what it is? Try this ... go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. A good one to try is 64049. Then close LW, re-open & see if it makes any difference. If that doesn't work, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) & reset your options next time you restart LW. That includes days to keep incomplete downlds from 7 days to a large number. |

![]() i set the port to 64049 and still got the wall icon i can connect to limewire and download but wanted to know if i could get higher speeds without the firewall at the moment im getting approx 60KB/s my isp d/l speed is about 3.5MB the link for the bt home hub is http://www.bt.com/broadband/bb_info....&obsOID=112066 hope that link works :S if not just google bt you can find the homehub option 3 by clicking "at home" on that site hope that helps moony0707 |

![]() I've got the link open & will take a closer look in a minute. But 1st, remember that ISP's quote internet speeds in bps (bits per second) whereas LW quotes speeds in KB/S which is (bytes per second.) Multiply 60 KB/s x 8 & it will give you bps. To be sure of your speed, without LW open do a speed test; Choose nearest location for a speed test & only have your browser open: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/. (BTW 60 KB/s is still very good as downld speeds generally depend upon your sources & what speeds they are offering or have available.) ![]() Speeds offered by ISP's usually lose speed depending on distance from supplier/telephone exchange, & also in-house overheads such as router/modem. Normally a 15-25% overhead loss is expected. Also download a magnet link from the following link & tell us what happens re: connecting & speed: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml |

![]() That option has Norton Firewall. Are you able to access Norton firewall at all? My guess is this might be where the firewall is coming from. It lists # Norton AntiVirus™ & # Norton Personal Firewall™. If you are able to access NIS, then see Configuring Norton Internet Security * Be aware you have a 40 GB/mth limit, so if you go over that I presume they will slap a shaper upon you until the end of the monthly period. It doesn't actually say there what speed they slow you down to or whether they charge you more. |

![]() norton came as an extra installation option and i didnt install it (dont like it) ive done speed tests on many sites and i get around 3.5meg bt said i should be getting 6.5 so so im guessing the 3.5 is after all the things about the exchange and router and everything else has been taken into account, im thinking i have a prety good download speed to but like everything else we want more lol so i thought id find that out and thought it strange that before my house move i didnt get the firewall and now i do and was wondering if it was something to do with moving, so if i have to live with it then i will as long as i can download and im getting good enough speeds i will be happy (not really i want more) ![]() ![]() |
| ||||
![]() Don't forget line speed is an issue also. My ISP offers 20 Mbps but my local line speed from the exchange was tested at 4.4 Mbps. lol ![]() Oh you forgot to do the magnet file test. ![]() I'm not sure about where the firewall is coming from then.
