Riiiiight, I did what that thread said, and nothing changed. But I exited out of Limewire, thinking, hmmm...maybe restarting will help...WRONG! Now Limewire won't even open.

My modem is a siemens speedstream 4200

I have tried everything and nothing works. :bangh: please help!

Ok. If LW's not opening, try fixes 1, 3 & 5 in the thread below. When you update your Java, use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install the new one.
Fixes for LimeWire

If you've used older (like before 4.9.34) versions of LW in the past, you could have a preferences folder in point 2's location as well. Deleting that folder will kill all of your settings within options...you'll have to go back through & reset things afterwards;)

Once you've got LW open, enable UPnP in your router & then choose the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply > ok.
Give it 10 mins or so to see whether the brick wall goes away.
If you're not sure about how to enable UPnP, here's the router manual...there's a section in there which tells you how.

If that doesn't help, you could try port forwarding. Have a look at the instructions below
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...0/Limewire.htm

Don't forget to set up a static IP address first, port forwarding won't work otherwise. You'll see a link to that within those instructions.
And remember...the port number forwarded, LW's listening port & the number in LW's 'manual port forward' box all have to be the same.

Right. No clue what you're talking about, and I appreciate the help, but I have found an alternative...kinda. Thanks so much for trying to help :wai: , but me, I'm impatient :imwaiting: and when I want something to work, I want it to work NOW, so, I gave up, and went a different way. Thanks though!
