![]() 1. OS version? Windows XP professional version 2002 (SP2) 2. What firewalls you have? Mcfee firewall 3. How much ram? 1.25 GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 46 GB 5. Connection type? Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: Motorola SB5101 SURFboard Cable Modem Router: Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Apartment 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.12.11 and Java 1.5.0_11 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? STARHUB (singapore) 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked! 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? YES, with my laptop through buffalo router (and my laptop also can't get connected!) 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? NO, not a first time user and YES, this is a new problem to me 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES (but previously even though there was a brick, I still get a turbo-charged connection and was able to dowload) FYI: 1. I have turned off the windows XP firewall and only use Mcfee firewall 2. I've checked my friends with the same ISP as mine and found out that they still can use limewire. 3. Before buffallo i used lynksis router and was able using limewire, in other words this is a brand new router that's just been installed. Thanks! ![]() Last edited by Gfan; February 16th, 2007 at 01:29 AM. |

![]() When you set up port forwarding, did you use these instructions? http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm Did you make sure to set up a static IP address first? Did you also make sure that the port forwarded & LW's listening port were the same number? Go back through & double check everything...it's easy enough to make a mistake & not realise. I think your router supports UPnP. If port forwarding's not working (it's usually pretty reliable) you could also enable UPnP within the router & choose the UPnP option within LW (tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply to save a change)...see if that changes anything. Make sure that your McAfee's configured properly. Also check that there's no firewall associated with your apartment block's internet connection. Starhub are known for throttling bandwidth, but AFAIK they don't block ports. Still, you could try changing ports to one between 49152 - 65535. You'll have to change LW's listening port & any ports forwarded thru your router ![]() |
