![]() I bought a new comp which came with Vista and Norton Internet Security 2007.1 Limewire wouldn't connect and, by a process of elimination, I narrowed it down to the Norton Firewall. I had Limewire set for full access in the program control and I could get a connection but nothing would download. After checking here I contacted Norton customer support. In addition to allowing full access to Limewire, you also need to set Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Generic Host to full access. It worked for me, hope it helps someone else out too! ![]() Hi, (From the top of my head becasue I'm at work!) They had me go to the Norton Firewall Setting control and click on the program control tab. I verified that Limewire was on the list of programs and it was granted full access. They then had me look for the program listed as "Microsoft Internet Explorer" which was set to auto and I was told to set it to (Full?? Whichever one gives it unrestricted access). Then they had me look for the program listed as "Microsoft Generic Host" which was set to auto and they had me change that to full access also. I saved the settings, opened up limewire and I was able to start downloading with no problem. I still had to click on the "File" drop down menu from the top left and select "Connect" from the drop down to establish the connection (i.e. it wouldn't automatically connect like it used to...or maybe I'm just not patient enough to let it do it on it's own!). Also, the brick wall is still displayed in front of the globe (but the files download and I'm not noticing any drop in the speed of the downloads). |

![]() Sure! I don't use Limewire very often and I do not leave it running in the background when I'm not using it but anytime I am on the network anyone can download from my available files (mostly music but some videos and commercials too). |
