It would be a good idea to let us know what equipment you have, i.e. system details: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=62652

Default ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter P2P

x33kimsy

Check out the following URL, it seems that your ISP blocks P2P traffic:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=33712

However, there are some forum members seem to get on OK with Verizon but most posting say that they are being blocked.

Default many fix attempts to no avail

i can't get past "starting connection", and have tried several fixes posted in various other threads - nothing thus far has helped. i clicked on the test link above and got "your test worked". my norton settings are configured to "permit all" for limewire, but i still can't connect.
the globe shows a brick wall, though i've got my windows XP firewall turned off.(?)
i've had LM for a long time and never had this problem before, but haven't used it for several months. i just upgraded to PRO hoping it would correct any problems, but that didn't make a difference.
i sent an email to "support", but am getting very frustrated with the software. can anyone help me???

Hi grant, Firstly you should of made this a new separate thread instead of tagging onto an old thread -- Okay in limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if it still doesnt work try this:-
To configure Norton's to allow LimeWire:

1. Double-Click the firewall systemtray icon. If it's not there, load Norton's Personal Firewall through your Start menu, then in the Programs list.
2. In the System Status window, click Personal Firewall
3. On the right-hand side of the window is the option to Configure, click it. A new window will emerge, with tabs at the top of it.
4. Click the Program Control tab.
5. In the Manual Program Control section, look for C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe.
6. If it's in the list, skip ahead to No. 10.
7. If it's not in the list, click the Add button.
8. Double-click the LimeWire folder.
9. Double-click LimeWire.exe.
10. Select LimeWire in the list.
11. Click the Modify button at the bottom of the window.
12. Select Permit from the "What do you want to do?" drop-down list.
13. Click OK.
14. Click OK on the Norton Personal Firewall window.
15. Close any other Norton's Personal Firewal windows.
16. Close and reload LimeWire.

You should be able to connect to LimeWire now.

Finally if problem still remains click on (system details) fill in as much as you can and post back here
