I'm having a somewhat similar problem. Recently I can no longer share files due to a firewall, however I've told Norton to allow Limewire, and the specific port to allow as well, and I am not using two different firewalls. Basically I've done all of the trouble shooting and still no luck. What else is there?

I started out with the basic version of LW and it didn't work which is why I got LW Pro because I hoped it would work. Also when I disabled both firewalls there was still a brick wall in front of the earth at the bottom on LW. There shouldn't be one there should there?

Did you ever find out the brand & model of your modem? If we know the brand & model, we can check whether it has an internal firewall.

I got on Dell's website and looked to see what modem they put in the computer I have, which is an E520, and the only modem it had listed to install into that style of computer was a 56K PCI Data Fax Modem. I don't know if this is helpful or not. Hopefully it is.

Do you have an external modem?

Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or try other ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > Apply > ok.

It looks like SITCO also offer a firewall.
SITCO - Services
Any chance that their firewall's part of your internet package? Just have a check to see about that.

I do not have an external modem.

I tried changing LW listening port to 64049 with no luck.

This is straight from Sit-co's website but I'm not sure their firewall is part of our internet package though. My friend also has Sit-co, the same version of LW, and the same windows and LW has always worked just fine for him.

6. What's the security level of the connection?
With SITCO, you get the most secure connection to the Internet available today. Our Secure Wireless Internet Access incorporates a robust and redundant security system of firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Your link to us is a one-to-one or point-to point connection. Using a firewall system from SITCO virtually hides you from the Internet while allowing you to have access to everything you need on the Internet. Access the Internet safely knowing you are protected and invisible from hackers and other Internet related insecurities.

You'll need to check whether there's a SITCO firewall in place. Sometimes there's an option to change the level of firewall protection (eg low, medium or high)...you'd have to find out about that from your ISP.

Just because your friend uses the same ISP, doesn't necessarily mean that you have the same plan, the same options, the same download allowance, the same features with your package....see what I mean?:)

Something you could try is deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

If you find that you don't have an ISP firewall & if deleting the prefs folder does nothing...send me a PM & I'll give you a link to download an earlier version of LW. Some versions behave strangely for some people.

Could you please send me the earlier version of LW to download. I'll try it and if it doesn't work i'll guess i'll have to use another source to download songs.
