How do I uninstall my AOL software? - Technical - AOL Help.

Use only one Firewall as two may conflict with each other. Disable the Windows Firewall.

Your Java is a little outdated.

Try Uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....

thanks for your reply remoc.
Ok, I uninstalled my Java and installed another updated java online because I couldn't install offline at that page you redirected me to. When I tried my computer said windows can't open this file because it doesn't know which program created it, etc...

so I installed the most recent java. Still can't connect.

I may have said the wrong thing when I said AOL Time Warner. Time Warner is my internet service provider but i don't think I actually use AOL. I do have an AOL instant messenger program downloaded but that is the only AOL service I use. I remember reading somewhere in these forums that Time Warner doesn't block these p2p programs, so I'm not sure that my ISP is the problem.

I don't understand why there is the brick wall in front of the globe icon because my Windows Firewall is turned off entirely and my McAfee is set to accept Limewire.

Are you suggesting that I uninstall my AOL instant messenger thing? Could that somehow be blocking Limewire?

I'm also wondering if the problem might be with my Terayon modem, like I have to configure some Upnp or something? I'm sorry but I really don't know what any of this stuff is so I can't talk about it in the right lingo!

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
