![]() I am at a point where I just want to rip this LM Pro out of my machine and throw away the money I just paid for it. There is no reason why there should be this much tweeking on the purchaser's part in order to get the program to run. The old version ran without any problem on my XP machine. Maybe it is Vista that is causing the problem but I was told my version is Vista compliant. I should know better than to purchase from a company that has no telephone tech support, we are all not computer Guru's. Since there is a no refund policy I guess I can just kiss my $25 goodbye. |

![]() Wondering Why, I appreciate your help but nothing seems to work. I just did as you suggested and removed both LW and ZoneAlarmSecurity using the control panel, then reinstalled and rebooted as you suggested.... still shows LW "Limewire has detected a firewall," and is stuck on the first bar of loading.... ![]() Limewire need to be uninstalled using the uninstaller which is found... Start > All Programs > Limewire... It sounds like your problem may also lay within your modem/router many of them have built in Nat Firewalls, so you will probably need to Port Forward... If you want to give that ago just let me know the make and model number for your modem/router and I will find your instructions on doing this... ![]()

![]() have still be trying to get on line. LM Pro keeps saying it detects a firewall. I have disable my Zone Alarm Security program, turn off the Firewall in Vista and have no other firewall on my computer. I have even unchecked ALL the programs in start up under the msconfig command, rebooted and it STILL says it detects a firewall. Just spent an hour with HP (my computer brand) and they cant solve it either. I downloaded the Pro version onto a XP operating system computer and it started right up AND that one even had Zone Alarm Pro firewall turned ON. What is the problem with getting it to run on this Vista computer??? Thanks for any assistance. I think LM should have a tech support number where you can speak to a specialist... Snookie 1231 |

![]() I have following all instructions from tech support in deleting LW and Java and reinstalling per their instructions and it STILL says it detects a firewall. I have no firewall running. Here are the answers to questions you asked for: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Vista Home Premium 2. What firewalls you have? Zone Alarm Secuity program but I have given LM permission AND I have shut the program down completely. 3. How much ram? 2 MB 4. Hard Disk space available? Over 400GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) I connect via cable modem 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorols Surfboard SBV5120 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? From my home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LM is 4.14.10 Pro and Java is 1.6.0_03 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Cablevision of NJ 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It works, says Your Test Worked. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I am not sharing with any other computers. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have had the old Limewire for over a year and had no problems with the installation or the running of the program. My computer crashed and bought a new one that now has Vista instead of XP. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image Yes, Yes, thats the damn problem... Ha. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall ![]() 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). U.S.A. Thanks for any help. Snookie1231 |

![]() Check this thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...on-worked.html Make sure Vista's firewall is disabled. Running two firewalls will result in clashes & unreliable results like you have & also result in less security, not more. Not sure about your model of Motorola, but if you are able to log into it, then ensure UPnP is enabled. In your browser, put in either http://192.168.100.1 _ or _ http://192.168.10.1 _ or _ http://192.168.1.1 ___ (depends on model) By default the username is admin, and the password is either admin or motorola Check to be sure UPnP is enabled if your device is log-in capable or has UPnP abilities. I notice your ISP is CableVision. They are known for causing problems with p2p users. But hopefully your not on their target or you are in one of their regions they do not apply such approaches. |
