![]() Check this thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...on-worked.html Make sure Vista's firewall is disabled. Running two firewalls will result in clashes & unreliable results like you have & also result in less security, not more. Not sure about your model of Motorola, but if you are able to log into it, then ensure UPnP is enabled. In your browser, put in either http://192.168.100.1 _ or _ http://192.168.10.1 _ or _ http://192.168.1.1 ___ (depends on model) By default the username is admin, and the password is either admin or motorola Check to be sure UPnP is enabled if your device is log-in capable or has UPnP abilities. I notice your ISP is CableVision. They are known for causing problems with p2p users. But hopefully your not on their target or you are in one of their regions they do not apply such approaches. |

![]() No - Vista's firewall is definately OFF. I called my Cable/modem company and they do not have a firewall attached to the modem and they allow pnp, they do not block any ports other than 25. I will try the link you sent from Blackbear and see if that helps. I appreciate your time and effort on this. this is what LM had me do, no success: Please do the following in order to perform a clean reinstallation of LimeWire PRO: 1 - Completely shut down LimeWire, including in the taskbar and system tray (the system tray is located in the bottom-right corner of the screen, usually next to the time; you may need to expand it by clicking the left arrow button). 2 - Uninstall all previous installations of LimeWire and Java Runtime Environment from Add/Remove programs (go to: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program). 3 - Delete all LimeWire icons and installers from your computer (you may find some on your desktop). 4 - Right-click the Start menu, then select Explore. Using the folder tree on the left side, navigate to the following directories, and delete them where found (you can right-click the folder and select Delete): C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire (where username is the name you use to log on to Windows) C:\Users\(username)\Incomplete (this will delete any partial downloads that were in progress) C:\Program Files\LimeWire NOTE: If you can't find these folders, go to Organize > Folder and Search Options > View, then select Show Hidden Files. 5 - Restart your computer. 6 - Visit: http://www.limewire.com/javabuttond to re-download and install the JRE (Manual Download > Offline Installation). 7 - Go back to the PRO download page, using the download link that was emailed to you on the date of your purchase, and download the Windows installer. Click *Run*. If you have problems when selecting *Run*, save the LimeWire PRO installer to your hard drive, and then run the installer from its saved location. If you have any questions, feel free to respond to this email, and please include the message history in your response. If you are using an email client that does not automatically include the message history (such as AOL or CompuServe), please copy and paste the message history into your response. I did all the above.....still no luck. Have a great Monday. Snookie1231 ![]() |

![]() Tuesday started already for me. lol ![]() Um ... about calling isp's, they usually won't tell you if they are blocking ports or shaping/blocking p2p apps. You might strike it lucky with one of their techs, but usually they won't tell you because it's their policy not to or else they themselves don't know. People at front desks who answer calls definitely won't know. Blocking ports is what CableVision do do in some but not all of their areas of control. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Firewalls & change the listening port to 64049 or 50012 (try both) & press apply. See if that helps. You can also go to Tools>Options>Connections & disable Connect on start up. Then close LW, open again, wait a few mins, check the listening port is the same as you put in, then go to File menu -> Connect. BTW did you try temporarily dissabling ZoneAlarm to see if it made any difference. Just to try to narrow down where the problem might be. Doh, oops you did try that earlier. But try no firewalls at all to see if that makes a difference, only temporarily. You could try another program to see if you can at least connect. I'd recommend Phex to see if you have the same problems. However again, you may need to add a separate firewall rule specifically for phex. ![]() Wow - where are you located Lord of the Rings?? Obviously in a different time zone..... Ha. Well, I went to LM's menu bar and under Options, advanced, firewall configuration - I tried to change the listening port to 64049 and/or 50012, said both ports were unavailable. I unchecked "Connect on start" and tried that way but as soon as LW opened I saw the brick wall and knew it was still detecting a firewall. Yes, I have turned off (for the time being anyway) both my firewalls, Vista and Zone Alarm Security. Snookie1231 |

![]() The only thing that seems out of place is just above my task bar it says "Internet - Protected Mode: On. I dbld clicked and lowered security down to minimum, still doesnt work. Thanks for all your help but I think I bothered you enough... I'll just chalk it up to experience and throw another 160GB in my old XP computer (plus it has a 500GB secondary HD) and use Limewire on that computer. Thanks for all your help and have a great week.
