limewireman25 is flying high
Default I am desperate and have tried everything!!!!!!

Alright here is my situation.

I have windows xp.
i have limewire. 4.14.10. i downloaded it from the site.
when i open it, it wont connect and shows the firewall window.
I have spoken to my internet provider, sbc.
I have manually changed all of my norton which makes no difference when its on or off so im guessing thats not the problem. I have tried many solutions from this website, no luck.
All i want to do is download music!
I tried that one site that when you click on it its supposed to say test complete or whatever for port 6346, my page wont show up.

Any solutions questions or just ways so i can have some music PLEASE HELP!!!!

limewireman25,

Make sure that the XP firewall's off. Try reconfiguring your Norton firewall.
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/226610-post6.html

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or try others in the arnge of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok.

What version of Java are you using? Try updating...download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.
Java SE Downloads
Some people have had problems with the latest Java versions, so it's up to you if you want to try that one or not. I'm using it & it's fine for me.

This older version of Java has worked better for some people, so try this if the latest Java gives you trouble. Download the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java before you install this one.

What's the model of your 2wire? Did you see the firewall icon before, when LW was connected ok?

Try this - it worked for me

[1] Uninstall the old version before installing the new -- delete the old LW folders from the Programs directory before installing the new version
[2] Ensure that you have java script J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 (Jre ver 5) if not download from here:-

Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

· Uninstall Limewire by using LW uninstall program not the add/remove control panel
Start -> All Programs -> Limewire -> Uninstall

· delete old LW folder from programs directory:-
c:\programs\Limewire <--- (delete this folder)

Hope this helps -- please let us know
