Have a look at this thread below. There are some instructions for finding the prefs folder, plus a few other fixes to try.
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-fix-try.html

If nothing there helps, can you let us know the brand & model of your modem/router? You might need to look underneath, if nothing's showing on top. If you're using a wireless connection, the modem/router might be in another room

Ok now I know what your talking about, the modem is Westell and the number is C90-610030-06. I did try the page you gave me and when I deleted that folder I couldn't get into limewire at all.

I think you might've deleted the wrong folder...what happened when you tried to open LW? Try uninstalling your LW (start > all programs > limewire > use the uninstall option) & then reinstall.
Make sure to download the offline installer. when you click to download LW, cancel the dialog box which pops up. Now choose the option to sownload the offline installer
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

When you delete the preferences folder, it's the folder called LimeWire within Application Data. To check that it's the right folder, double click on it & when it's open you'll see things like this.
I've tried everything!! please help!! (can't find preferences folder)-insideprefs.jpg

Did you make sure that LW was closed before you deleted the prefs folder?
Try doing it again. If none of the other fixes in that thread help, you can try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Westell C90-610030-06
Don't forget to set up a staic IP address first, or port forwarding won't work. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number.

When I tried opening it is said browse or cancel. I tried searching for Application Data and Limewire and I still couldn't find the folder. I don't think I have it.

Did you make sure that you had hidden files & folders showing?? Go to Control Panel, double click on Folder Options. Now click on the View tab. Put a dot in the circle next to 'show hidden files & folders', then click on Apply & click on OK.

Go to My computer. Double click C drive. Now you should see a folder Documents and Settings - double click that. Now you should see a folder named your username (whatever your username is on the computer) - double click that. Now you should see Application Data - double click that. And now you should see a folder named LimeWire - that's the one to delete.

Ok I was able to find the folder and I deleted it and when I tried to get into limewire it asked for my language and where I'd like to save my files to and after I did all that I still didn't have a connection and I looked in the App Data folder again and the limewire folder was back in there.

That's ok. After you delete the preferences folder a new one will be created! If you have to go through all that setup stuff again, it means that you deleted the folder properly
Try closing LW & restarting your computer. then start LW & see if it connects.

If not, go back to the thread I first linked to in post #2 & try replacing the gnutella.net file.

Read the thread carefully & follow the instructions there (there are screenshots to help).

Deleting the preferences folder has fixed this problem for a lot of people, but replcing the gnutella.net file has worked for others. Just give it a try.
