Default I've tried everything! Only getting one bar and wont connect

1. OS version? Windows XP version 2002
2. What firewalls you have? Only Windows as far as I can tell and I have allowed Limewire
3. How much ram? 30.4
4. Hard Disk space available? 18.9
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Don't know got it from Bell
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.14.10 and Jave 1.6.0_03
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Bell Canada
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says your test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. - No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Limewire worked perfectly until about a week ago - I have tried everything since then
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image yes but I always have even when it worked
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Don't know the answer to this
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Just e.Trust antivirus - I have turned it off and still get no connection

Have a look at the thread below. Since you don't say exactly what fixes you've tried, maybe there's something there to help.

If nothing helps & you still can't connect, try to find out the brand & model of your router. Have a look underneath, if nothing's showing on top. Or ask Bell...if they provided it then they should be able to give you some info about it

I've disconnected and reconnected
I've replaced the gnutella folder
I've removed the .limewire folder/preferences folder
I've updated java
I've removed java and updated it again
I removed the updated version of java and added an old version - when that didn't work I updated again
I've removed limewire and re-installed the whole program three times
I've disable my security
I've removed the expection from the window firewall and added it back it

I still only get one bar

Then find out the brand & model of your modem/router!

Did you also look for a preferences folder in the new (hidden by default)
location within Application Data. That's different to the .limewire folder.

After you deleted prefs folder(s), did LW take you through the setup wizard again?

Did you remove any other Java versions installed on your computer, apart from the latest update?

Speed Stream 5200
Ethernet USB ADSL modem
Efficent Networks

I removed both .limewire and limewire and went through selecting my preferences again ( I did both twice)

I also deleted the previous version of Java and only the latest version on my system

Is there anything else I can do?

Talking

I got it!

When I read the other post about the proper gnutella file being 22KB I was able to ensure that the proper file was in the right folder! I must have been putting in the wrong file or something??

Love it! Thanks I'm going to download now.

For anyone else having problems with this...

The file that you'll download from my hosted link is around 22KB (the file in my second link shows as ~24 KB). If the gnutella.net file in your preferences folder is very small (way less than 22KB), you should replace it with the downloaded file.
