Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

I found the Windstream firewall and it was already off.

Still cant connect

open explorer.

c:
documents and settings
"your user name" or administrator if thats what you are
application data *
and then you should see lime wire

* if you cannot see application data at this stage then click at the top menu
Tools
folder options
view
and make sure now your showing hidden files

Give it a go and let us know ...

I found the Application Folder and replaced the gnutella file.....


and I still cant connect

Was LW completely closed when you replaced the file? Did you restart your computer before starting up LW? Hover your mouse over the gnutella.net file...what size is the file?

Did you ever try using an older version of Java? In the 'if LW will not connect' thread, there's a link to download Java 1.5.0_11. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before installing the older version.

Try doing the port 6346 test again...if that test doesn't work, it can sometimes mean that an ISP is blocking certain ports. Did you try a few port numbers in the range that I gave you earlier?

You could also try port forwarding for your SpeedStream. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Siemens 4200
Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address first. LW's listening port , port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router setup should all be the same number.

I just used 65000
