Currenlty Connecting, Never Connects

hi there, I have been searching for weeks to try and solve this problem. Here is the information you requested. I have tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling along with some port configurations recommended in other posts. No Luck, any suggestions? LW use to work a long time ago. Please help

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98): Window XP Home
2. What firewalls you have? Avast version 4.7 Home Version (Turned Off)
3. How much ram? 768 MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 6.95 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable Premium 10mb /per Seconds
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: WebStar by Scientific-Atlanta DPC2100; Router: Dell2350 Wireless Broadband Router
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.17.0; Java 1.6.0 _.03
9. Who is your
ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Bright House Road Runner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? I did it and it said “Your test worked!”
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. This is the main computer have 3 others computers connected via router.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem, use to work 6 months ago.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image. Yes, but I always have seen a brick wall and it used to still work.
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I checked my router and it shows lots of enabled.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the

go to limewire links (below in my signature)and click on (If lw will not connect) and try these fixes -- if this dont work try (connection problems) @ (connection troubleshooting) -- also have a look at these instructions for (port forwarding for Dell2350)

Connecting Issues

Thanks for the help, but the setting up a static IP address is pretty complex. the port forwarding stuff looks easy.

I was able to connect when I removed the router, (so it is the router) but that is a pain to have to keep removing it and of course when I do the other computers in the house can not connect to the web.

Just curious, how come this was not a problem in the past. I have not changed my router and it use to work 6 months or so ago. Does a previous version of LimeWire still work without setting up a static IP address? If so, can I get a link to that version and use it?

Thanks for the help.

some people have done this with no problems at all -- that is reverting back to their old version of LW -- I dont know why this problem occurs perhaps one of the LW GURU's can answer that question

Went back to 4.12.15

While trying to set up a static isp, I contacted my ISP since my DNS servier on the windows printout was the same as my IP address. My ISP (Bright House/Road Runner) said that I could not use a static ip it would not work with there system.

So after many weeks, I downloaded LimeWire version 4.12.15 and guess what Limewire works again. Now if Limewire could put out a new version that connects the old way that would be great.

good to hear that you have been reconnected again even if it's with yr old version in lieu of the latest version.
