Default Limewire & Norton Internet Security 2007

My Limewire will not connect. Here are some details:
1) I have been able to connect to LW from this computer in the past.
2) I have LW version 4.16.6 Pro
3) I uninstalled my Norton Internet Security 2007 and my LW worked without changing any other computer settings. Therefore, I know it is solely a firewall or something in my Norton program. Under my "Personal Firewall" "Program" tab, the Limewire program is present, checked, and configured correctly under the program exceptions list.
4) I have tried to add a rule with LW's listening port under the general rules tab, and it does not work.

Can anyone help me configure my Norton Internet Security 2007 to allow Limewire to connect? Thank you in advance for your time!

Ok it looks like it is your Nortons that is causing the problems -- there are 2 ways of configuring your computer so that your firewall will accept Limewire -- (1) Open Nortons and find the applications or connections tab where it shows all the programs that have been permitted/accepted by Nortons. Find Limewire hilite it and delete/remove it. Now reboot yr computer -- open/start Limewire and a Popup box from Norton should appear asking if you wish to permit or deny this program -- click permit -- now that should do it -- if it doesn't try this way -- (2) making an exception for Limewire in Nortons Personal Firewall. Open this link (configure nortons for LW) scroll down to post #4 bloodie and follow instructions -- also this was added by another LW user who used "bloodie's" method to configure nortons:-

In addition to what bloodie said I found that by following the steps he provided up to step 11 worked; however, thereafter it did not. I found that by following the nexts steps I have provided, I got lime wire to work for myself.

step 12. left click on computer icon that appears under "program rules"
step 13. select modify
step 14. click on "communications tab"
step 15. select "all" from the drop down box
step 16. select ok
step 17. open limewire.

If the above dont work try this link by LOTR (Finally solved my connection problem)

Hope this works for you -- pse let us know how you get on

Thank you so much! I followed your instructions & removed Limewire from the program exception list. For anyone else who is having problems, here is what I had to do in order to circumvent the firewall in Norton 2007:
1. In the Norton Internet Security & Firewall Options dialog box under Personal Firewall, make sure you select the "Ask me what to do" option under "Firewall Processing" (The default setting for my program was "Automatically decide what to do," so I never encountered a Popup box that allowed my to permit or deny Limewire to run).
2. In the same Personal Firewall menu, remove Limewire from the program exception list.
3. As skyliner suggested: "open/start Limewire and a Popup box from Norton should appear asking if you wish to permit or deny this program -- click permit."
4. Restart your computer after this step or it won't work (I didn't think the changes I did had done anything until I restarted my computer the next morning and Limewire connected).
**My Norton program automatically configured the Limewire exception rule correctly. Those were the only four steps I had to take to get my Limewire to finally connect!

Thank you so much!
