Never been able to connect

I have never been able to connect using Limewire. It always says "you are currently connecting to the network".

I'm using Vista, the newest version of Limewire Free, the internet security software that I use is TrendMicro. And I also use a spyware prevention program called Ad-Aware 2007.

I've allowed LW through the firewall, and done the port thingy, and every thing else I can think of (including whats in the FAQs etc), short of ringing up the ISP people.

If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. :)

Hi randomchick,
Make sure that you only have 1 firewall program running (TrendMicro) shut down/disable windows VISTA Firewall--- In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if yr problem still remains click on (system details) and fill in as much as you can and post back here

Vista firewall has been disabled since I first bought this computer...just checked, still disabled.
I tried the help links given, but no luck.
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98). Vista, and I can access the admin account
2. What firewalls you have? Trend Micro
3. How much ram? 2GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 42.5 GB at least
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Wireless broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from? home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. The latest ones, I upgraded Java today and downloaded LW today as well
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? SpinNet
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? The connection times out "The server at www3.limewire.com is taking too long to respond."
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. first try with this computer
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Trend Micro
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Australia

Did you click on the link (If LW will not connect) and try the fixes as I asked earlier-- if not pse do it now -- also check your add/remove programs -- you should only have 1 entry of java if more than 1 delete/remove the older version -- make sure that you have made an exception in your firewall for limewire -- also your para 10 in system details is abit of a worry -- let me know how you get on

Can you pse do this test again http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and tell me what it says -- it should say test worked -- also pse cfm that you havent got a router as these have firewalls and this could be blocking your connection -- para 10 in your system details is a bit of a worry.

the link still times out with both IE7 and firefox.
I'll check the router and get back to you.
